Trends in CMS

BuiltWith Technology recently published an overview of CMS Usage Statistics that shows the CMS distribution in the top million, top 100,000, and top 10,000 sites.  (They define the top million sites as the web’s most visited sites in descending order).

The trend was very interesting when you look for Expression Engine, which typically is our CMS of choice. In the top million sites, Expression Engine ranks tenth. In the top 100,000 sites, EE is fifth, and in the top 10,000, EE is fourth. We often get asked by our larger clients and prospects about the size of the Expression Engine user base because what they mostly hear about is WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal. What these stats show is that even though EE may not have spread as prolifically as the open source alternatives, it has a strong presence in well-trafficked sites.

Heard of our new Support Portal, but have yet to visit it?  One of the new areas we are working on, and hope you find useful is the Knowledge Base, which we are populating with answers to “Frequently Asked Questions” about Email setup for various clients.

The thing we are asked most is “What is my password?”

In light of that, we thought it would be good to post some information about Password Management here, and in our Support Portal.

One of the headaches of the modern age is setting up passwords for each account we have online.  These add up, and it is sometimes onerous to have to a) create them, and b) remember them.

However, in this modern age, where we are increasingly relying on our digital packets of information, it is becoming even more important to have safe and secure passwords.  Hackers increasingly are hacking people’s email and online account passwords to mine personal information, sometimes just to spam other people, sometimes to garner financial data.

Prevention is the key.

New Support Portal Has Arrived!

Get A Password. Get Logged In. Get Help!

We recently launched a new support portal to provide a single destination for our hosting customers who need technical support. The portal can be accessed by:

  • Clicking Client Login at the top of our Web site, or;
  • Visting support.jubjub.com directly.

If you host with us, then you’ve already received an email containing your password. If you did not receive this message or lost your password, please call our support desk at 714-586-8500, option 1, and we’ll get you squared away.

Whether it’s a site maintenance request, email assistance, or a question about your bill, our intention is for the portal to become the “go to” place for all of your hosting-related questions.

The portal is still a work in progress. In the coming months, we’ll be making many enhancements, including adding knowledgebase articles, integrating more of the billing features, and providing timely announcements on the status of our network.

During this time, if you have any suggestions on how we can improve the portal, we want to hear from you. Please get in touch.

We’d like introduce the newest member of the Jub Jub Team, Samantha Curry. Samantha is both a designer and developer, a rare mix of skills that has already made her an invaluable part of our development group. She provides a beautiful less-is-more design sensibility that you’ll be able to see in a few sites launching towards the end of this year. She’s also an Expression Engine content management guru, and a wiz at making even the most complex sites easily editable. Welcome aboard, Samantha!
