Why would anybody not want IMAP? It’s convenient. You can access your email on every device you own. It gets backed up on the remote server, so that if your local computer should die, miraculously, your email will “reappear” when you get a new computer.
But, what happens when the internet goes down? What if you have a brand new computer, phone, tablet, but it can’t connect to the internet. How can you search for that email you’ve got to respond to….when you can’t get to the remote server hosting your IMAP email.
If your email is set up as POP3, you can.
