Don’t let yourself be a Weiner!

Today's news that New York Rep. Anthony Weiner's famous Tweet was actually sent by him, and was not the result of a hacked account is probably good from a security perspective. Twitter's security team is probably happy.

However, it's a bit of a wake-up call for every Twitter user, and Social Media convert, that again, with great power, comes great responsibility.

We have seen today just how powerful Social Media can be.

While it has been said that "there is no such thing as bad publicity", one probably wants to err on the side of "good publicity" with one's brand. While many may not have known who Anthony Weiner was before his inadvertent "personal Tweet" went public, he probably did not want his name forever paired with this incident.

Which is why it's good to learn as much as you can about these new technologies before delving in. It's good to know how much they can accomplish for your brand, and also where any pitfalls may lie.
